I really like this statement in ‘Getting Started with Data Science’ published by IBM press about Data Scientist:
“Data Scientist is the unique blend of skills, that can both unlock the insights of data and tell a fantastic story via the data.”
The definition made by Dr. Patil, the Chief Data Scientist of US. I agree with the author that it is inclusive of individuals of various background and training. It does not restrict the definition of a data scientist to a particular tool, or subject it to a certain arbitrary minimum threshold of data size.
