Measuring our impact

Sometimes I forget that the kind of work that we do has a definite social impact and value. I stop being conscious of this because this is our everyday world. When things are simply part of your routine, you forget that the things that you do are not “business as usual”.

Last year, I wanted to measure and track our progress regarding the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

SDGs 4, 8 and 10 are the ones our work most closely aligns to. They are: Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth and Reduced Inequalities. Our SkillsUP Lab programs are all about these things, leveling the playing field if you like.

I was reminded last night to do the update of our year to date and to complete the numbers for last year. For someone who works in the field of data, I don’t spend much time using data to quantify our work. Instead I look at the people who come through our programs, listen to their growth and their dreams, watch them take their next steps and cheer them on. That’s really how we measure our impact.

The MAEX platform calculates social impact of initiatives in the Netherlands. To date, the social impact that we have generated through our programs represents a value of 330,000 euro since we started almost two years ago.

We’re definitely walking our talk, from day one. 😉 On to the next 330,000 euro of social impact!
